STEPH & ANDREW’S SUNSHINE COAST ENGAGEMENT SHOOT

I got a call from Andrew a month out from their wedding saying Steph was feeling anxious about having her photo taken. He asked if we could arrange a Sunshine Coast engagement shoot to surprise her with a couple of weeks before the big day.

We organised the whole thing in secret. Andrew came up with an elaborate lie about a friend wanting to try out their new camera so we could leave the surprise to the day of the shoot. When Andrew & Steph arrived at the cafe we were meeting at & I jumped up saying “Hi Steph”, the look of shock on her face was priceless (I wish I’d had the camera ready for that, although maybe not the most flattering pic haha).

We then spent a super fun afternoon exploring amongst the rocky pathways, long grass and soft sunlight on top of a mountain. As you can see these guys don’t need to worry AT ALL about being photographed…they’re absolutely gorgeous!

We got the most beautiful afternoon sunlight! This light makes me heart sing!! Emu Mountain is such a great spot for photos. It’s a little bit of a trek up a rocky path but it’s absolutely worth it when you get there. You have views of the water on one side and you’re up high enough to take advantage of the sunset which we don’t always get being on the east coast.

Steph & Andrew left a beautiful review after their wedding which I think shows how great engagement shoots are for developing absolute trust before your wedding day:

“Kirsty McPhee at Wildflower Weddings & Portraits is the wedding photographer of your dreams! We felt we could trust her completely on the wedding day after seeing the photos from our engagement shoot. It was so nice to just relax knowing she would have the photos in hand. We are delighted with our photos and are so very glad we chose Kirsty!”
