Bride and groom embracing at Spicers Clovelly Estate Wedding

Tim & Anna’s Spicers Clovelly Estate Wedding

I tell you what, there’s nothing like a Spicers Clovelly Estate wedding during that autumn / winter time with the beautiful autumn leaves. This was a particularly special wedding for me because Tim is my husband’s cousin so these guys are family to me! And they’re also wedding photographers themselves so I was very honoured to be asked to document their day.

The ceremony space at Spicers Clovelly Estate is so beautiful and lush being completely surrounded by trees. It makes for a wonderful first impression and definitely great ceremony photos!

Anna’s stunning Sherri Hill gown hanging in the perfect spot in the bridal suite. I love that they have a special spot for the dress to hang (and at a good height). They’ve thought of everything! And the beautiful blooms created by The Posy Co for the day.

Anna’s best mate’s little girl Sylvie had flower girl duties for the day and totally stole the show!

Twidale did a beautiful job of hair and make up for the ladies making them look and feel stunning for the whole day!

I love capturing candid moments where there’s lots of emotion! Here’s Anna’s Mum having a few tears at the sight of her only child coming down the aisle with her Dad. Such a special moment.

Ahhh the relief that the scary “reading vows in front of people” bit is over!

Another part I love to document is all the happy faces of your friends and family congratulating you once you’ve sealed the deal! There’s always so much joy on people’s faces and is the perfect time to get those candid photos everyone loves to have.

Portraits at Clovelly during autumn and the very start of winter are an absolute dream!! I love the colours of the leaves and because we don’t get that many deciduous trees in this part of Queensland it looks like you’re in another place entirely. There’s so many beautiful options and places to shoot.  The greatest thing is that you don’t have to travel anywhere. This removes all the stress of travel time and logistics which can take away from the enjoyment of this time with your new husband or wife.

It’s a great idea to leave some time for your reception set up to be photographed before your guests enter. You’ve put so much time and attention into styling it and often you don’t get a chance to see how fabulous it looks without everyone in there. Thankfully at Spicers they’re great with keeping guests in a separate area until the sit down part of the reception begins so you can get these photos.

Speeches sometimes get a bad wrap at weddings. They’re actually some of my favourite moments because we can get so many great candid photos of people reacting to speeches. Particularly if there’s some funny stories!

Bride & groom's first dance at Spicers Clovelly Estate wedding

First dance time! If you’re having a band and want them to play live for your first dance song, make sure you give you them plenty of notice of your chosen song. If you’ve choreographed a particular dance it’s sometimes easier to dance to the original track and let the band kick in after that.

Speaking of bands, I can wholeheartedly recommend The JSB to get the dance floor pumping! I always tell couples that if a dance floor is important to you for your wedding day you’ve got to get a band or DJ. The JSB bring so much energy and it’s contagious so your guests can’t help but let loose!

I also received the most beautiful review from Anna. It means so much to me when couples absolutely love their photos!

We love Kirsty! We have just been married in June 2019 up at Spicer Clovelly Estate and had Kirsty from Wildflower Weddings as our photographer. We are so happy with our images! We’ve just printed off a whole bunch and our house is soon to be covered in Kirsty’s beautiful images. Our friends and family have really enjoyed going through all the photos and so many have now become facebook profile photos of various friends from the wedding haha! Loved by all :)”
