Having never photographed a Greek Club wedding before I was really looking forward to doing Steph & Dan’s wedding there. I started the day with getting ready photos with their bridal parties and families in lovely light filled Airbnbs in Coorparoo. They had their ceremony at a Catholic church in Annerley before we headed to Teneriffe for their photos. The spot we chose was perfect for having a variety of backgrounds without having to walk very far. We got the greenery from a beautiful vine covered wall and a more urban look with the brick walls. These guys were so fun and naturally playful that it made doing photos a breeze. Steph was really not fussed with doing too many portraits so we took off to the reception to get the party started.
The amazing staff at The Greek Club had worked wonders with decorating the space and thankfully kept the guests out on the deck so I could photograph the interior before people put their bags and coats down. Steph & Dan and their bridal party danced their way into the reception and set the tone for a super fun party! Michael Eötvös was on music for the evening and was a big time contributor to the great vibe. With 180 guests I had my hands full with capturing everyone but because there was a great mixture of things happening and down time at the reception I managed to get a least one photo of every guest.
A highlight for me was the ‘Chinese drinking game’ tradition. The couple go around to the head of each long table to toast their guests and everyone on that table yells out and holds “Yaaaaaaammmm seng” (which means “cheers”) for as long as possible. Whichever table is loudest is the winner! It made for some really fun images! Everyone hit the dance floor and was having such a fabulous time when I finished up that I’m sure the party went hard well into the evening.
