Meet Kirsty

Hi, I’m Kirsty

Usually when I have to write sentences beginning with the word “I”, the cursor blinks for quite some time before I get the sudden urge to boil an “urgent” cup of tea… However, when I’m being invited along to the most intimate day of somebody’s life, it’s only fair that I introduce myself and help you get to know me so that by the time your wedding day rolls around, I just feel like a friend with some bangin’ photography skills.

So what’s the best way for me to introduce myself?
I photographed my first wedding in 2012 (kind of by accident) and apart from a few stints of travel I haven’t really stopped shooting weddings ever since, going full-time in 2015. After studying photography and then spending some time working for a commercial studio, I more or less fell into weddings and it has been nothing short of fantabulous! Introductions aside, me being a photographer, it will come as no surprise that I am more of a visual person…
It’s probably best for me to show you the things I love!

Adventuring

to beautiful places...

I love to travel… like a lot!

I find that travel refreshes and inspires me and gives a perspective that few other experiences can give.

It is also my favourite type of photography to do just for fun. When my husband and I did a round-the-world trip for 7 months and I was taking hundreds of photos every day, my camera really became an extension of my body.

So many people say to put the camera down and just enjoy the moment but for me, there’s something about taking a photograph that slows down time, makes me more observant and preserves the moment.

Take a peek at some of my faves…

My boy, Andrew

Meet my other half. He is a coffee-guzzling guitar teacher and musician who also works in the wedding industry with his band, The Jimmy Sogalrey Band (they’re actually awesome!). We travel together, work together and binge on Netflix together.

We got married in June last year at sunset on a mountain-top, 7000ft up.

Photography was obviously very important to us and I learned, even more, the value of having a record of such a whirlwind day!

Honourable Mentions

In no particular order I’m also quite fond of:

  1. Dogs
  2. Sport, especially tennis, basketball, rugby league, and cricket. You may see my other husband to your left! Or at least that’s what Andrew calls Federer!
  3. Over-indulging on nutella & banana crepes
  4. Dancing to 90s music
  5. Tea-drinkin’
  6. Tending to my ever-growing collection of house-plants
  7. Did I say dogs…?

Wait, did I just call this a job?!

I also love to help my couples with their wedding plans. If you have any questions at all about getting the most out of your day, don’t hesitate to ask! There are so many tiny considerations that can have a hugeeffect on photography.  Whether it’s how to set up for the best lighting or deciding on which room of the house to get ready in, your unique planning informed by my experience will get the best possible results.

I want to photograph you and your special someone!
I limit myself to 35 weddings each year. If you are currently in the early planning phase or are still trying to lock down a date or a venue, now is the perfect time to get in touch. You can check out the FAQs using the link below.
